January 26, 1945 – February 19, 2021

 

William Eugene Pruett, age 76 of Carleton, passed away the morning of Friday, February 19, 2021 at the Arbor Hospice Facility in Saline, MI.

 

Born January 26, 1945 in Ironton, Missouri. He was one of six children of the late Raymond and Mary (King) Pruett. Bill graduated from Camanche High School in Camanche, Iowa in 1965. Later, he moved to the Monroe area.

 

Bill met the love of his life: Mary Rock. They got married on March 21, 1986 in Romulus, MI. They raised a family of two children and spent over 35 wonderful years together. Together, they enjoyed traveling with each other and enjoying one’s company. 

 

Bill made his living working at Rye Gentry Trucking Company. He was a truck driver for over 50 years before retiring. Bill also used to work for Egotrips Incorporation, providing entertainment transportation. He used to drive the truck going on rock tours for bands like Aerosmith, Neil Diamond, and Lionel Richie as well as Broadway shows.

 

In Bill’s younger years, he loved going out on his boat as well as ride his Harley Davison Motorcycle. Later on, he enjoyed watching his favorite Western movies, wrestling shows, and NASCAR races, while having his cup of coffee. Bill be known for his witty attitude and outgoing personality; he loved to joke around and have a good time.

 

Most importantly, Bill liked spending his quality time with his family. He will be dearly missed and cherished in the hearts of his loved ones.

 

Beloved husband of Mary Pruett. Loving father of Tina Pruett and William and Kris Pruett. Dearest grandfather of Autumn, William, Erin, Erik, and Rachel. Great grandfather of Domanic, Jack, Alyonna, Graham, Heath, Kellen, and Knox. Dear brother of Elva Leo Pruett and Betty Norman. Also survived by brother in law: Martin K. Rock.

 

In addition to his parents, Bill is preceded in death by siblings: James Pruett, Goldie Colbletz, and Margaret Seachrest.

 

Everyone is invited to a visitation on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at the Kirby Free Will Baptist Church in Flat Rock from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, where the funeral service will start at the end of viewing at 2:00 PM.  Officiating is pastor of the church, Mike Trimble. Burial will follow to Roselawn Memorial Park.
