Virginia E. Adkins
June 25, 1949 - May 10, 2021
Virginia "Ginny" Adkins, age 71 of Monroe, passed away the evening of Monday, May 10, 2021 at ProMedica Regional Hospital of Monroe.
Born June 25, 1949 in Monroe. She was one of five children of Curtis and the late Nellie (Bowlin) Ayers.
Ginny met the love of her life: David Adkins. When she was 16 years old and David 19, they got married on April 9, 1966 at their grandparent’s house in Monroe. They raised a family of two girls and had just celebrated their 55th year anniversary.
Both Ginny and David enjoyed traveling with one another and family. They drove to many places like the east coast and Grand Canyon. They also liked to go to the U.P. to visit Munsing and Copper Harbor and tour Pictured Rocks. One of their favorite trips included going to eat at Jolly Rogers Seafood House in Port Clinton, Ohio then driving down to Marblehead Lighthouse to take in the lovely view of the water.
Ginny was a member at Monroe Missionary Baptist Church of Monroe. First and foremost, Ginny was always a caretaker, helping everyone else before herself. When her mother got sick, she always took care of her. Then when Ginny became a grandma, she babysat and helped raise many of her grandchildren. Her family was her life, she will be deeply missed and cherished in the hearts of her loved ones.
Beloved wife of David Adkins. Loving mother of Eva Knowlton. Dearest daughter of Curtis Ayers. Dear grandmother of Jeremy (Laura Gniewek) Reaume, Ashley McMillin, Natasha McMillin, Jacob (Candace Baker) McMillin, Heather (Aaron) Collins, Jeffrey Reaume, and Keely Adkins. Great-grandmother of Nikolas, Rose, Chloe, Claire, Connor, Zayne, Callie, Jaylie, Alivia, Viviana, Evelynn, and Mason. Dear sister of Michael (Denise) Ayers and Eugene Ayers. Also survived by a son-in -law: Tracy Barczewski.
Ginny is preceded in death by her mother: Nellie Ayers; daughter: Jamie Barczewski; sisters: Judy (David) Miller and Deborah Fuson; and brothers: Dennis Ayers and Randy Ayers.
