Vernon Daniel, age 92 of Erie, went home to be with the Lord, on January 13, 2021 at home under hospice care.

Born May 27, 1928 in Harlan, KY to the late Pierce and Viola (Daniels) Daniel. Vernon was one of 13 children.

He married the love of his life, Margaret Lee, on May 17, 1947 in Middlesboro, KY. They raised a family of four boys and spent 73 wonderful years together. Together they enjoyed traveling to the west coast to visit their son and family in California. During the winter, they would escape the cold to Florida.

Vern made his living working at the General Motors Powertrain in Toledo. He spent over 30 years working as a Set-up Man before retiring in 1990. Vernon always had a strong faith and was a member of the Monroe Nazarene Church for nearly 60 years.

Vernon was a homebody, he enjoyed relaxing at home listening to old country or gospel music. Most importantly, he liked spending quality time with his family. He will be deeply missed and cherished in the hearts of his loved ones.

Beloved husband of Margaret Daniel. Loving father of Vernon (Kathy) Daniel Jr. of LaSalle, Leonard (Carolyn) Daniel of Alpine, CA, and Edward Daniel of Temperance. Dearest grandfather of Stephen Daniel, Linda Ferris, Sherry Ely, Jason Daniel, Angela McDougal, Derrick Daniel, Heather Swift, Crystal Lee, and Eddie Daniel. Great-grandfather of Emma, Aiden, Evelyn, Luke, Ciera, Rebekah, Nicole, Ryan, Jared, Bryce, Addison, Braelyn, Gabriel, Zoey, Johnny, Izabel, Judah, and Brooklyn. Dear brother of Lee Daniel of Harlan, KY; Macie Zimmerman of TX; Joan Pipitone, IL; Teresa (Harvey) Goodin of Pineville, KY; Hazel (Merritt) Pace of UT; Cleda Faye Cleave of AR; and Christine (Bob) Knutson of IL. Also survived by daughter-in-law, Karen Daniel of Toledo.

Preceded in death by son: Estil Daniel and siblings: Cleston Daniel, Edith Nicholson, Opal Soylor, Velma Maxine Daniel, and Sara Margaret Daniel.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Friday, January 15, 2021 at Rupp Funeral Home from 5:00-8:00 PM. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Rupp Funeral Home starting at 12 noon. Officiating is Rev. Kim and Cindy Semran. Burial will follow to Lulu Cemetery in Ida, MI.
