Ronald Carter Obituary

Ronald L. Carter

May 4, 1943 – April 25, 2024

Ronald Leroy Carter, age 80 of Monroe, passed away the morning of Thursday, April 25, 2024, at the University of Michigan Hospital of Ann Arbor.

Born May 4, 1943 in Wyandotte. He was one of three children of the late Roy and Edith Carter. Ron graduated from Trenton High School in 1960. After school, Ron proudly served his country in the United States Airforce.

Ron met and married the love of his life: Marie-Paule Pelletier on September 6, 1965 in Edmundston, New Brunswick, Canada. They raised their family of three children and spent over 53 wonderful years together before Marie-Paule sadly passed away in 2018.

Ron made a living working at Chrysler Automotive at the Trenton Engine Plant. He was a Job Setter for 39 years before retiring. In his free time, he was a part of a bowling league and enjoyed fishing with his wife. Speaking of fish, Ron loved eating any type of seafood, as it was his favorite. Ron was an avid Detroit Sports fan, but especially loved watching the Tigers or Lions play.

While he was at home, Ron liked to watch his black and white western shows as well as Family Feud. He was known as the neighborhood watch and kept tabs on what was going on. He was a wiz at crosswords, tongue twisters, and Word Association games. Ron was the king of silly one liner jokes and had plenty to share.

Most importantly, Ron loved spending his quality time with his kids and grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Beloved father of Hollie (Jamey) Harmon and Stephanie (Paul) Marchese. Loving grandfather of Eric (Chelsea) Carter, Brett Carter, Kyle Carter, Lainey Harmon, Cy Marchese, Katie Carter, Alec (Brienna) Marchese, Hayden (Logan) Harmon, and Ellie Harmon. Great grandfather of eight great grandchildren. Dear brother of Darryl (Beth) Carter.

In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by wife: Marie-Paule Carter; son: Dale Carter; and sister: Sharon Fountain.

In accordance with the family’s wishes, a private VFW Honor Guard service with prayers will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle.
