Michael Schaffenberg Obituary

Michael S. Schaffenberg

May 5, 1973 – October 7, 2023

Michael Scott Schaffenberg, age 50 of Monroe, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at the Medilodge of Monroe.

Born May 5, 1973 in Monroe. He was one of three children of the late Don and Rebecca (Crites) Torrance. Mike was considered a miracle baby. He was born with Kartagener Syndrome which affects one out of 32,000 births. The doctors told his family that he wasn’t supposed to make it past the age of seven. But he proved everyone wrong.

Mike graduated from Monroe High School in 1993. After school he worked for Monroe Evening News delivering newspapers on and off for about ten years.

Mike was always interested in CB Radios and computers. He enjoyed working and tinkering with cars in his free time. Mike also liked playing games and watching movies. He was a very sociable person and would talk to anyone who’d listen. Mike could talk to anyone about anything. He will be remembered for his positive attitude he always had.

Beloved brother of Margaret Schaffenberg and Frank (Elizabeth Hyter) Torrance. Loving uncle of Mila and Rebecca Zimmerman. Mike was preceded in death by parents: Don and Rebecca Torrance.

In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place with no services at this time. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Rupp Funeral Home. Online condolences may be sent to www.ruppfuneralhomeinc.com
