Michael Allan Black, age 72 of Monroe, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Friday, March 31, 2023, at his home under hospice care.

Born December 10, 1950 in Detroit, MI. Mike is the son of Albert Black and the late Ethel Mae (Fortner) Black. Mike worked for Monroe Charter Township as a Building Official for many years before retiring. While he was there, he taught anyone who was willing to listen and in time, many looked up to him as a mentor. He was a man of all skills and very proud of his work.

Mike was a classic car enthusiast as well as a NASCAR fanatic. In his free time, you could find him working in the garage or out camping in the Wilderness Campground for 14 years. Most importantly, he enjoyed spending his quality time with his family especially during get togethers with everyone.

Surviving is partner and wife of 36 years: Donna Black; father: Albert Black; children which include stepchildren: Kimberly (Pete) Soncrant, and Andrea (Sean) Lechner; grandchildren: Kenneth (Danielle), Ashley (Troy), Brittanie (Thad), Bryce, and Briley; great grandchildren: Dakkotah and Gracie; and siblings: Jim Black, Jack (Mary) Black, Patricia Gorman, and Robert Black.

Mike was preceded in death by mother: Ethel Black; stepmother: Elsie Black; sister-in-law: Diane; and brother-in-law: Al.

Everyone is invited to a visitation on Thursday, April 6, 2023, at Rupp Funeral Home from 1:00 to 7:00 pm. A funeral service will conclude the night starting at 7 pm. Officiating is Rev. Harold Raines. In accordance with Mike’s wishes cremation will conclude services.

In honor of Mike, memorial donations are suggested to Oaks of Righteousness Church or to ProMedica Hospice.
