Loretta M. Brossia
March 3, 1918-July 29, 2022
Loretta M. Brossia, age 104 of Monroe, passed away the afternoon of Friday July 29, 2022 at Hampton Manor of Dundee.
Loretta was born March 3, 1918 in Monroe, MI to William and Anna (Engel) Goodnough. She married Fred R. Brossia on October 26, 1940 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Maybee, MI. They would go on to join St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ida, MI, where she was a member of the Christian Mother’s Sodality.
Loretta and Fred would then move their worship to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Monroe, MI. It was here that Loretta previously served as a eucharist minister, resurrection choir member, and volunteered for funeral luncheons. Loretta also was a member of the Mercy Hospital Ladies Guild, Lady Knights of Columbus, Comboni Missions, Father Solanus Guild, Monroe Senior Center, and Monroe County Farm Bureau. Loretta worked 18 and a half years in the Repair Department at La-Z-Boy, retiring in 1982.
Loretta is preceded in death by her parents, William and Anna Goodnough; her loving husband of 50 years, Fred; four brothers: Bernard (Adeline) Goodnough, Albert who died in infancy; Leo (Evelyn) Goodnough, and Clarence (Billie) Goodnough; four sisters: Helen (Urban) Navarre, Marie Burns, Gertrude (Wilbert) Matthes, and Lillian (Thurman) Seitz; two sons: Ronald and Robert Brossia; and a grandchild.
To cherish her memory, Loretta leaves two sons: John (Janet) and Jerry Brossia; two daughters: Judy (William) McClish and Jeanne Niles; two sisters: Dolares (Lennon) Bodine and Geraldine (Ted) Lamarre; one brother, William (Maureen) Goodnough; and numerous grandchildren, step grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
Family and friends may visit from 2-7pm at Rupp Funeral Home on Friday August 12, 2022. Deacon Mike Hammond will lead a Scripture Service that evening at 7pm. Loretta will lie in-state at 10am on Saturday August 13, 2022 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, where a funeral Mass will be held at 11am. Father David Burgard, Pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will immediately follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Monroe.
Flowers are welcome, however, anyone wishing to make a memorial contribution in Loretta’s memory may do so to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.
