Lillian M. Wade
December 1, 1929 – February 28, 2021
Lillian Martha Wade, 91 of Monroe, passed away peacefully Sunday, February 28, 2021 at Medilodge of Monroe.
Born December 1, 1929 in Monroe, she was the daughter of the late Leonard and Eula (Massey) Daman. Lillian graduated from Monroe High School. She then worked at Kmart in the shipping and receiving department. Her employee number was #1, helping stock the first Kmart before they were open for business. While working there, Lillian went back to school beginning with Monroe County Community College for an Associates, followed by Eastern Michigan University, graduating with a Bachelor Degree in Liberal Arts and two Masters Degrees. Lillian worked as a 5th grade teacher for Monroe Public Schools at Lincoln and Riverside before retiring. She then ran a successful tutoring service when living in New Hampshire and Massachusetts.
She lived at Medilodge for a number years, making many friends there. The family is grateful to the staff for the dedicated care and compassion shown through the years. Lillian enjoyed painting, along with all different artwork and pastels. She also enjoyed genealogy, having massive books of family records. Lillian extremely enjoyed traveling, going on a few cruises and exploring places she had never been. She took a three year solo trip driving around in an RV and experiencing everything the US had to offer.
Lillian is survived by her three sons: Stephen Kreps, Jonathan Bayer, and Daniel Bayer; one daughter, Dianna Bayer; four grandchildren; and twelve great grandchildren.
Along with her parents, Lillian is preceded in death by her husband Kenneth P. Wade; her brother, Jean E. Daman; two ex-husbands, Cleo and Glenn; and a daughter-in-law, Sue Kreps.
A celebration of Lillian’s life will be held at 3pm on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at Calvary Baptist Church in Dundee (318 Riley St. Dundee, MI 48131).
In lieu of flowers, the family is suggesting memorial donations in Lillian’s honor to a charity of their own choosing that is special to them.
