December 20, 1928 - October 23, 2021

Joyce Ann Eby, 92, died peacefully on October 23, 2021.  She was born December 20, 1928, to Karl and Nona Hoagland, of Toledo, OH.  She graduated from Bowling Green State University in 1951. On October 10, 1953, she married Ralph Eby at St. Mary Church in Monroe, MI.  He preceded her in death in 2013. 

Joyce and Ralph raised six children: Mark (Sharyn), of Saline, MI, Brian (Bethany), of Ida, MI, Paul (Ruth), of Whitehouse, OH, Ellen (Alan)Okada, of Yuma, AZ, Robert (Harriet), of Dundee, MI, and Kenneth, of Plainview, MN.  She had 18 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.  In addition to her children and spouses, grandchildren and spouses and great-grandchildren, she is survived by her brother, Lawrence (Carol) Hoagland, of Center Harbor, NH and Sally (Robert) Hosack, of Plainwell, MI. 

Joyce was active in a number of organizations, including Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority, St. Mary Church and School, Family Counseling & Shelter Services and Heartbeat of Monroe.  She enjoyed serving others through those and several other organizations.

In recognition of her lifelong interest in and support of education, Ralph Eby established the Joyce Hoagland Eby Scholarship which provides financial assistance to students enrolling at Monroe County Community College.  That scholarship program will continue in effect.

Visitation will be at Rupp Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 27, 2021, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 pm.  A celebration of life Mass will be held Thursday, October 28, 2021, at 10:00 am, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.  Burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetery.
