Janet Lucille Hopper

August 8, 1934 – April 15, 2021

Janet Lucille Hopper, age 86 of Monroe, passed away on Thursday, April 15, 2021, at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital.

Born August 8, 1934 in Monroe to the late Alford and Dollie (Lewis) Swords. Janet graduated from Monroe High School. She would go on to marry the love of her life, Ambrose Hopper, on December 2, 1956. They raised a family of three children and spent over 64 wonderful years together.

For much of her life, Janet enjoyed being a lunch lady for Monroe Public Schools. Later, Janet worked as a Hi-Lo driver at Beecham Chemical Products. In her free time, Janet was fond of sewing, completing puzzles, and shopping. Janet was known for being friendly and selfless. Most importantly, Janet loved being around her family, friends, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

To cherish her memory, Janet leaves her husband, Ambrose; children: Kesha Hopper of Monroe, Matthew (Ginger) Hopper of Rayville, MO, and Davey (April) Hopper of Monroe; grandchildren: Kayli Zorn, Morgan Zorn, Peyton Zorn, Ryan Hopper, Erik Hopper, Camryn Hopper, McKenzy (Jeffrey) Ridner, and Kyle Hopper; four great-grandchildren; and sister, Bernita Redford.

Along with her parents, Janet is preceded in death by her brother, Davey Swords.

Everyone is invited to a visitation on Sunday, April 18, 2021, at Rupp Funeral Home from 2:00 to 7:00 pm. A funeral service will take place on Monday, April 19, 2021 at Rupp Funeral Home starting at 11:00 am. Officiating is Rev. Larry Detruf. Entombment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
