Georgana Brouse

October 4, 1941 – January 11, 2022

Georgana Neel Brouse age 80, passed away with her daughter by her side on January 11, 2022 at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston, Texas.

Georgana was born in Columbus, Ohio to Frederick R. and Ruth (George) Neel.  Georgana graduated from Columbus North High School and then went on to graduate from Ohio Northern University with a degree in Education.  While at Northern she met and married her college sweetheart Donald Brouse Jr.  After moving to Monroe she attended Monroe County Community College where she earned her nursing degree.  She then went on to earn her master’s degree in guidance and counseling from Eastern Michigan University.

In her lifetime Georgana worked for Jefferson and Monroe Public Schools, Mercy/Memorial Hospital, Downriver Guidance Clinic and Monroe County Community Mental Health. Her passion was helping others.

She was a 50 year member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church where she was a Stephens Minister, a member of the United Methodist Women and a volunteer for God’s Work. She was an active member of Townsite Garden Club, American Red Cross of Monroe County, Mercy Memorial Hospital Guild, and for many years was a 4-H leader for Lasalle Lucky Bunch.

Georgana was preceded in death by her husband Donald Brouse, son Roger Allen Brouse, parents Fred and Ruth Neel, and her brother Jeff Neel.

A memorial service will be held at Rupp Funeral Home in Monroe, Michigan in the spring 2022. With a private burial at Lasalle Township Cemetery.

She is survived by her daughter Jennifer Sammons (Martin), granddaughter Mackenzie Brouse and great granddaughter Hattie Rose Cataldo.
