Genevieve Sobak, 82, passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at the IHM Motherhouse health care center in Monroe, MI.

Gen was born on June 26, 1940, in Natrona Heights, PA to the late Chester and Jane Sobak. She entered the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Monroe in September of 1958 and then stayed until her exit in 1971.

Having earned a master’s degree in education from Marygrove College, Gen began teaching at Trenton Public Schools. In her free time, Gen was known for being a talented painter. She also enjoyed living on the Detroit River and spending time with her nieces, nephews, and coworkers.

To cherish her memory, Gen leaves a sister, Jane Fernandes; four nieces and nephews, Ellyce Lineton, Christopher Sobczak, Stephen Sobczak, and Elizabeth Steinberg; and five great nieces and nephews, Lauren, Grant, Mason, Gabrielle, and Mitchell. In addition to her parents, Gen is preceded in death by a sister, Marcella Sobczak.

In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life on Monday, March 27, 2023, at the IHM Motherhouse Chapel. An instate will begin at 9 am with a memorial mass starting at 10 am. Arrangements are under the direction of Rupp Funeral Home.
