Genevieve E. Naszradi
December 17, 1931 – April 17, 2021
Genevieve “Gen” Elizabeth Naszradi, age 89 of Novi, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at the Brookdale Farmington Hills North Nursing Home.
Born December 17, 1931 in Carlton. She grew up on a farm as one of seven children of the late Albert and Elizabeth (Liptow) Meyer. Gen graduated from St. Mary’s Academy High School in 1950.
After high school, she went to work at the Monroe County Court House until she met the love of her life: John Naszradi. They got married on July 23, 1955 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church of Carleton (now known as Divine Grace Parish). They raised a family of four children and spent over 65 wonderful years together, with 35 of those years being in the Trenton area.
Gen was a homemaker until her children were grown then Gen did Bookkeeping at Jerry’s Butcher Shop in Wyandotte. She then started at Trenton Bank and Trust Bank (now PNC Bank) for many years before retiring as a Teller.
During her early years, Gen was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. She enjoyed playing outfield on their softball team with some of her sisters. Gen also volunteered at St. Mary’s funeral luncheons. She was known as an outstanding cook and baker. Every year at the Meyer’s Family Reunion, her family requested she make her homemade baked beans. Gen would go out of her way to make each of her children’s favorite meals and sweets as well.
Gen enjoyed listening and dancing to polka music. She also liked to play card games and go for walks. Gen loved to travel. Both Gen and John enjoyed going on cruises and trips to Europe. They visited places like Ireland, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Alaska, Hawaii, and many other places across the United States. Most Importantly, Gen liked spending her quality time with her family and friends, especially her grandkids and great grandkids. She will be deeply missed and cherished in the hearts of her loved ones.
