Fawn E. Pettigrew

Fawn Elizabeth Pettigrew, age 76 of Monroe, passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2020 at Henry Ford Hospital of Detroit.

Born October 14, 1943 in Highland Park from the union of the late Lucina and Johnny Hagood. Fawn was the second oldest of seven children in the family and grew up in Highland Park, MI. While living in the Detroit area Fawn worked at Frisch's Big Boy restaurant where she met Thomas " Tommy" Pettigrew. Fawn and Tommy moved to the Toledo, Ohio in 1966 where they raised their family.
 

While living in Toledo, Fawn volunteered for the Head Start Program, mastered the art of cake decorating, became a licensed beautician and instructor, took in foster children and ran a home based child care.

Eventually, Fawn moved to Luna Pier, MI, where she made new friends, explored new hobbies and was baptized at the Luna Pier Baptist Church.

Fawn was very artistic, which came out in the countless handmade Christmas decorations she made over the years, and the elaborate birthday cakes she made for her grandchildren. Fawn was known for many things, including her sense of humor, knack for crossword puzzles, playing Yahtzee and putting together hundreds of jigsaw puzzles. However, everyone that knew Fawn, knew that her greatest passion was cooking and caring for her grandchildren.

Beloved mother of Tony D. Hagood, Patricia A. Pettigrew, Margaret E. (David) Stephens, and Thomas E. Pettigrew III. Loving grandmother of 16 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and a host of bonus grandchildren. Dearest sister of six brothers and sisters.

In accordance with her wishes cremation has taken place. Everyone is invited to a memorial visitation on Saturday, August 22, 2020 at Rupp Funeral Home from 1:00 to 2:30 PM. There will be a memorial service on Saturday, August 22, 2020 at 2:30 PM at the funeral home for all to attend. Officiating is Pastor Fred Parker Jr.
