Elaine Carol Mushung
March 12, 1937 – May 15, 2022
Elaine Mushung, age 85, of Monroe, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 15, 2022, at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital.
Born March 12, 1937, in Monroe, Elaine was the daughter of the late Peter and Suzanne (Braun) Mushung. Elaine attended St. Michael’s elementary school. She was a church member and was baptized and confirmed there. Elaine attended Monroe High School and graduated with the class of 1956. During her high school years, she worked for her father at his bakery, Quality Bakery at West Front and Toledo Ave. After graduation, she found a job at Mercy Memorial Hospital as a nurse’s aide. She worked in the Nursery there for more than 40 years.
In her spare time, Elaine enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, word puzzles and reading, especially Amish books. She also loved to watch Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, and the Hallmark channel. She will miss her little pal Snoopy the stuffed animal.
To cherish her memory, she leaves three brothers: David (Beverly) Mushung, Charles (Elaine B.) Mushung of Monroe, and Robert Mushung of Vero Beach Florida, and many nieces and nephews. She also leaves two very special people, her caretakers and friends, Roxann Hoffman, and Ellen Sinon.
Elaine is preceded in death by two brothers: Frederick Mushung and John “Jack” Mushung and a sister, Joan Van Slambrouck.
In accordance with her wishes, Elaine has been laid to rest with assistance of Rupp Funeral Home, at St. Joseph Cemetery in Monroe next to her mother and father.
