Don W. Bollenberg

August 11, 1935 - March 23, 2021

 

Don W. Bollenberg, age 85 of Monroe, passed away on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at ProMedica Regional Hospital of Monroe. 

 

Born August 11, 1935 in Monroe. He was the son of Charles and Julia (Dorner) Bollenberg. After school, Don proudly served his country in the United States Army. He served from 1953 to 1956, during the Korean War for a 16-month term before being honorably discharged.

 

Don married the love of his life, Patricia Curson on November 10, 1956 at the First Presbyterian Church. They raised their children and spent over 61 wonderful years together until Pat's passing in 2017.

 

Don made his living working at Ace Paper Company. He was a Plant Manager there for 23 years before retiring. Don also worked for Modern Packaging Inc. and Interpack Systems. Don was a member and past Governor of the Moose Lodge. He was a member of the VFW Post 1138 of Monroe and the American Legion. Don was also a part of the Rod and Gun Club as well as the National Rifle Association. 

 

Beloved father of David (Jamie) Bollenberg. Loving grandfather of Peyton and Alec Bollenberg. Dearest brother of Robert (Molly) Bollenberg of Monroe, Karl Bellestri of Monroe, Terry (Elise) Bellestri of Trenton, Anne (Guil) Wilkes of Royal Oak, and Theresa Roark of Downers Grove, IL.  Also survived by sisters-in-law: Ruth Bollenberg of Tucson, AZ and Barbara Bollenberg of Downers Grove, IL.

 

In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his wife: Patricia Bollenberg, son: Mark Bollenberg, daughter: Shelly Bollenberg, and siblings: Charles Bollenberg, William Bollenberg, David Bollenberg, Jeffery Bollenberg, John Bellestri, Kathryn Bollenberg, and Mary Bellestri.
