Carol Hunt Obituary

Carol J. Hunt

October 29, 1958 – March 26, 2024

Carol Jean (Novak) Hunt, age 65 of Monroe, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at the Ebeid Hospice Center in Sylvania, Ohio. She had been in declining health for several years.

Born October 29, 1958, in Chinon, France. Carol was one of nine children of the late Andrew and Irmgard (Grimmer) Novak. Carol graduated from Monroe High School in 1977. She then continued her education at Eastern Michigan University, where she received her Bachelor of Criminal Justice degree.

Carol also graduated from the US Army ROTC Program at EMU and went on to faithfully and honorably serve her country from 1982 to 1986 in the United States Army as a Commissioned Officer. Her youthful sense of adventure took her to assignments in South Korea and Germany.   Upon completing her military service, she returned to her family in Monroe, MI.

She found employment with the Chrysler/Stellantis Automotive Company at the Jefferson Jeep Plant in Detroit. She was a Line Production Tech for 28 years before medically retiring in 2019. Carol was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church for many years and the Monroe Moose Lodge.

In her free time, Carol enjoyed patronizing local art fairs, playing recreational softball in Monroe, as well as, communing with nature, especially touring Michigan’s fall colors. As her health waned over the past several years, Carol took great solace in avidly watching numerous nostalgic 60/70’s TV Programs. In addition to actively supporting numerous Veteran’s fundraising events for many years, she took an active interest in Relay for Life Cancer Awareness Events. Carol will be remembered for her kind and generous soul. She was truly a caring and selfless person who would help anyone in need, often placing her own needs and comfort behind others.  Having no children of her own, Carol especially cherished her role in nurturing and mentoring her young niece, Jennifer Tagatac, throughout her childhood. In her final act of giving, Carol donated her corneas to the Toledo Area Eye Bank.  Carol will be deeply missed and cherished in the hearts of her loved ones.

Beloved sister of Ivol (Linda) Novak, James (Barbara) Novak, Andrea (Henry) Werner, Darrell (Donna) Novak, Robert (Denise) Novak, Roger Novak, and Kim Novak. Loving aunt to numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by a brother, Marvin Novak.

In accordance with the family’s wishes, all services will be private. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Rupp Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or the Irmgard Gertrude Novak College Scholarship Fund would be sincerely appreciated.  Online condolences may be sent to www.ruppfuneralhomeinc.com
