Yvonne F. Acton
January 19, 1934 – April 8, 2026
Yvonne Faye (nee Cousino) Acton, age 92 of Monroe, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 8, 2026.
Born January 19, 1934, on the family farm in LaSalle, MI, Yvonne was one of six children of the late Elvert and Mildred (Larrow) Cousino. Yvonne was a 1952 graduate of St. Mary Academy. She then continued her education at Michigan State University before transferring to Eastern Michigan University, where she completed her Bachelor Degree of Science.
After college, Yvonne became a teacher at St. Mary Parochial School for four years. She then taught for Monroe Public Schools at the South Monroe Townsite Elementary School. Yvonne was primarily a fourth-grade teacher who influenced so many students, regularly receiving letters from past students. Yvonne retired in 1994 after 36 years of service.
Yvonne married the love of her life, Thomas J. Acton, on October 16, 1954, at St. Mary Catholic Church of Monroe. They raised a family of three children. Together they spent time traveling with the Nomads and other worldwide travel groups. They belonged to a Latin dance club for many years and spent winters at their home in Spring Hill, Florida. They spent over 63 wonderful years together before Tom sadly passed in 2017.
Yvonne was a member of the Sawyer House of Monroe as well as the Mercy Memorial Hospital Ladies Guild. She was also an avid bridge and euchre player. There were many evenings spent with everyone gathered around the table playing cards with friends and family.
Most importantly, she adored her family. Yvonne was an excellent cook and made several famous dishes everyone enjoyed. She will be deeply missed and cherished in the hearts of her loved ones.
Yvonne was the beloved mother of Patrick Acton, Thomas “Mike” Acton, and Vicki (Robert) Jacobs. She was a loving grandmother to Denrick Acton, Neil (Taylor) Jacobs, and Alison (David) Lange, a great grandmother to Mark Lange, Victoria (Tori) Lange, Smith Jacobs, and Margot Jacobs. She was also survived by brother Barry (Karen) Cousino, sister-in-law, Gretchen Cousino, and brother-in-law, Robert Daschke.
In addition to her parents, Yvonne was preceded in death by husband, Tom; infant daughter, Abigail Faye Acton; and siblings, Marilyn Jean Ulrich, Michele Lemay, Janice Daschke, and Ronald Cousino.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at Rupp Funeral Home from 4 to 8 pm. The funeral service will be on Friday, April 17, 2026, at Rupp Funeral Home starting at 11 am. Officiating is Rev. Larry Detruf. Entombment will follow to St. Joseph Cemetery, Monroe.
