Wilma Jean Bryant Baker Moore departed this life for the eternal with Christ on January 22, 2023.

Born to Matt Oza and Samantha Hamblin Bryant in Harlan, Kentucky on August 6, 1929, Wilma was preceded in death by her parents; sister Wanda Bryant; husband Roy Moore; son Clayborn Matthew Baker; and daughter Marcia Lynn Baker White.

She is survived by brothers Robert (Carol) Bryant and Ronald (Jackie) Bryant; daughters Lana (Daryll) Dwyer; Brenda (Glenn) Needham; and Teresa (Frank) Nadeau, along with 11 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Wilma was married to Clayborn Baker on October 25, 1947 and they had five children. They parted at his death in 1987. She later married Roy Moore and was again widowed when he departed this world in 1989.

A longtime attendee of Evergreen Acres Missionary Baptist Church, Wilma enjoyed fellowshipping at various local Baptist Church dinners. A lifelong homemaker and talented quilter, she spent her time gardening, making her famous grape “Granny Jelly” and most of all, serving Christ by being a shining example of his love with her sweet and welcoming nature.

Friends may visit Wilma Jean Bryant Baker Moore and family at Rupp Funeral Home on Thursday, January 26, 2023 from 11 am to 12 noon. A funeral service will begin at 12 noon. Officiating is Pastor Jake Clawson. She will be laid to rest at Roselawn Memorial Park in LaSalle.
