William Hensley

William Hensley, age 84, of Monroe, MI, passed away peacefully in his home on Friday, December 5, 2025 surrounded by his loving family.

Born October 1, 1941 in Powell Valley, Tennessee, he was one of three children born from the union of Carl and Stella (Russell) Hensley. Bill left high school early to join the United States Army. While enlisted, he finished his education and received his GED. Bill served honorably in the United States Army for more than two years before he was discharged.

On July 7, 1962, Bill married Sue Weaver and together they raised two sons. He worked at Union Camp Paper Company for 19 years until their closing and went on to serve as Plant Manager at Viking Paper Company for more than 20 years before retiring.

Bill loved the outdoors. Although he liked hunting deer and fishing, his passion for turkey hunting was endless. He also had a great love for his hunting dogs and always had a Beagle. If Bill wasn’t hunting you would likely find him in his garden.  Sometimes known for being a little stubborn, Bill knew what he wanted and always set out to achieve it. He was a loyal man that loved spending time with his family. He will be truly missed by all that knew and loved him.

To cherish his memory, he leaves his loving wife of 63 years, Sue Hensley, a son, Jeff Hensley, a sister, Betty Kroeger, four grandchildren: Courtney (Thomas) Riggs, Shanelle Hensley, Rachelle Hensley and William Hensley and a daughter in law, Tammy Hensley.

Bill is preceded in death by a son, Rob Hensley and two brothers, Frank and Eugene Hensley.

Family and friends may visit on Wednesday December 10, 2025 at Rupp Funeral Home from 10:30 until 1 pm. A time of sharing will take place at 1pm. Bill will be laid to rest at Rath Cemetery in Monroe, MI.
