William “Bill” Charles Carpenter, age 84 of LaSalle, passed away the afternoon of Wednesday October 18, 2023 in his home surrounded by his loving family.

Bill was born February 24, 1939 in Elmira, NY to the late Clifford and Eva (Harvey) Carpenter. He would go on to meet and marry the love of his life: Vivian L. Reynolds, on June 8, 1974, at the Monroe Free Methodist Church on Dunbar Road in Monroe. They raised a family of eight children and spent over 49 wonderful years together.

Bill was on Team Driving Semi’s over the road with his wife, Vivian, as his copilot. Bill drove truck all his life. He was a member of the First Baptist Church on N. Custer Road, but prior to that, he was a member at the Free Methodist Church of Monroe. In his spare time, Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, and tending to his garden. Above all else, Bill loved spending time with his family and friends.

Loving father of DuWayne Stroebel, Colleen (Gary) Weirich, Charleen (Rob Zulewski) Stroebel, Timothy Carpenter, and Arlene (Patrick) Graham. Dearest grandfather of 19 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grandchildren. Beloved brother of Myrtle Kliener and Erma Corey.

Bill was preceded in death by his loving wife, Vivian; children: Cathleen Ellison, Reynold Stroebel, and Rodger Stroebel; grandsons: Randel Ellison II and William "Billy" Carpenter; great granddaughter: Miranda Ellison; four brothers: Lester, Robert, Clifford Jr., and Merle; two sisters: Beverly and Lillian Carpenter; and both sets of grandparents.

Family and friends are welcome from 2-8pm on Friday October 20, 2023 at Rupp Funeral Home, where a celebration of life will be held on Saturday October 21, 2023 at 11am. Rev. Kim Semran will officiate. Burial will immediately follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
