Vonda Smith

April 21, 1951 – August 29, 2023

Vonda Goltowski Smith, 72 a Native of Monroe, peacefully went home to be with her Lord under the care of hospice on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 in West Palm Beach Florida.

Born April 21, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Sylvester and Anne Goltowski of Newport, Michigan. She graduated from Jefferson High School. Afterwards she attended Detroit Bible College for a few years and later married Thomas Collingsworth, with whom she had three beautiful daughters.

Vonda worked several years as an Xray Technician in Oregon, Ohio and the Monroe Mercy Hospital. She loved music, art, reading, nature, and the water. She was very creative and loved learning many different genres of art. She taught watercolor and calligraphy classes for Monroe’s Adult Education Program. She was involved in several art programs and workshops. But above all she loved the Lord. She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church and later Monroe Alliance Church before moving to Florida with her husband, Rev. Terrance Smith. She enjoyed attending and taught bible study groups and the women’s ministry. Vonda also served as the church secretary for several years.

Vonda loved her family and made amazing friends. She always made sure everyone felt loved and cared for. She was a silly and bossy lady, but it all came from having such a big loving heart. Vonda will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.

To cherish her memory Vonda leaves behind her husband, Rev. Terrance Smith, and her daughter, Jade (Bobby) Adams; four brothers, Art (Cindy) Goltowski, Richard (Doreen) Goltowski, Billy (Sue) Goltowski, John (LaSandra) Goltowski; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Along with her parents, Vonda is preceded in death by two daughters, Amber Collingsworth and Coral Parades, and a brother, Mark Goltowski.

A memorial gathering celebrating Vonda will be held on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at Monroe Alliance Church. Visitation is at 5:30 until the time of service starting at 6:30 with Pastor Mark Blake officiating. A dinner will follow the service.
