Virginia M. (Pearce) Peters
November 28, 1923 - February 1, 2021
Virginia Marie Peters, age 97 of Monroe, MI passed away peacefully on February 1, 2021 under the care of Wellspring Lutheran Services, Monroe, MI, and Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
Born November 28, 1923 in Adrian, MI, Virginia was the daughter of Arlie and Genevieve (Ayers) Pearce. She married Paul Peters on December 31, 1941 in Napoleon, OH. The couple recently celebrated their 79th Anniversary.
During WWII, Virginia worked at American Chain and Cable in Adrian, MI making parachute rip cords to assist in the war effort. In 1947, Paul and Virginia moved to Monroe where they raised their four children.
In 1952, Paul and Virginia became members of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Monroe. Virginia was an active member of the congregation and spent many years leading and coordinating church activities including Sunday School circles, salad luncheons, and funeral dinners. She loved to water walk, go out to eat, play cards and spend time with her family. Virginia was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be missed dearly.
Virginia is survived by her husband of 79 years, Paul; their four children: Douglas (Janet) Peters of Monroe, Susan (Charles) Whitbread of Lambertville, MI, Gregory (Colleen) Peters of Toledo, OH, and David (Vicki) Peters of Monroe, MI. Seven Grandchildren: Ellen (Greg) Sobota, Tracy (Steve) Pierce, Jennifer (Alex) Young, Sean (Katie) Peters, Megan (Zach) Stiffler, McKenzie Peters, and Kayla Peters. They also have 8 Great Grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her brother and two sisters, Richard Pearce, Jean Carver and Luella May Pearce.
Due to COVID restrictions, all funeral services will be private and entrusted to Rupp Funeral Home. A funeral service will take place at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church of Monroe for family only. Burial will take place at Fairfield Cemetery in Adrian, MI.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in honor of Virginia can be made to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Monroe or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
