Veronica A. Greenawalt
August 17, 1927 – August 30, 2023
Veronica Ann Greenawalt, age 96 of Monroe, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2023, at the IHM Senior Living Community.
Born August 17, 1927, in Greensburg, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Lipance) Litterine. After school, she went to work.
Veronica met and married the love of her life: Donald Edward Greenawalt on June 10, 1947, in Greensburg, PA. She was a loving homemaker to her five children and spent over 52 wonderful married years together, before Don passed away in 1999.
After the kids were grown, she went back to work at Iszard’s Department Store and Sear’s Department Store as a Retail Sales Associate for many years before retiring in 2012 at the age of 85.
Veronica was a member of the Elks Lodge Club, along with her husband. She would volunteer her time in different functions and charity work. In her free time, she enjoyed reading magazines like Women’s Daily, Good Housekeeping, and Better Homes and Garden. Veronica also liked to shop, enter contests, cut crystal and figurines. She also liked to cook, bake, and watch baseball.
Most importantly, she loved spending her quality time with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren. She liked to gossip, be the center of attention and naughty girl. Veronica will be deeply missed and cherished in the hearts of her loved ones.
Beloved mother of Donald (Mel) Greenawalt, Douglas (Tina) Greenawalt, Dennis Greenawalt, and Daniel (Nancy) Greenawalt. Loving grandmother of 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. Dear sister of Marjorie Krajovic.
In addition to her parents, Veronica was preceded in death by her husband: Donald Greenawalt; daughter: Susan Lyke; and sister: Betty Theis.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be a short prayer service on Friday, September 8, 2023, at Rupp Funeral Home at 5:30 pm. Officiating is Fr. Kishore Babu Battu. Her ashes will then be scattered in New York.
