Tom Haddix
September 25, 1945 – December 5, 2025
Thomas Edward Haddix, age 80 of Monroe, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, December 5, 2025, with loved ones by his side.
Born September 25, 1945 in Monroe. He is the son the late Vivan “Bud” and Beatrice (Host) Haddix. Tom attended St. Mary Catholic Central.
Tom was a hard-working man. He was a local entrepreneur in Monroe County. Tom took up any opportunity to conduct business and dipped his toes into a little bit of everything. He continued working up till he recently got sick.
Tom met the love of his life, Bonnie Ish in 1982. He always knew she was special from the day they met. They were loving companions and life partners for 43 wonderful years together.
Tom was a past member of the Brest Bay Rod and Gun Club, the Detroit Beach Boat Club, Fraternal Order of Eagles, and the Monroe Moose Lodge 884. In his younger years, he enjoyed going boating and hunting when the season was right. Tom liked to go up north to his cottage in Harrison, MI to spend time with family and friends.
Tom absolutely adored his dogs, Champ, Suzie, and the recently deceased, Fawn, who he affectionately referred to as “his main squeeze.” They were his to spoil and cherish. Tom will be remembered for always being the “professional grandpa” to many. He was always there to support his grandkids in any way he could. Tom will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Beloved companion of Bonnie Ish. Loving father of Tom (Barb) Haddix Jr., Lisa (Dan) Straub, Laura (John) Oehlers, and Jeff (Carrie) Haddix. Grandfather of numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dear brother of Sharon (Al) Heiserman, June Staggs, and Sally (Terry) Norman.
In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by brothers: Jack, Bill, and Keith Haddix; and sisters: Patricia Kane and Shirley Frey.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial gathering will be held on Monday, December 8, 2025, at Rupp Funeral Home from 2-8 pm with Rosary at 7pm. A Catholic Mass will be held at a later date.
