Tanya J. Vanderpool

Tanya Vanderpool, age 68, of Newport, passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, March 31, 2025.

Born March 28, 1957 in Freemont, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Henry LeRoy and Betty Lucille (Poore) Cook. Tanya and her siblings were raised in Monroe, Michigan by Betty and Everette Miller. She attended and graduated from Jefferson High School and went on to further her education at Monroe County Community College, attaining her associate’s degree to become a Registered Nurse. Tanya married Jeffrey Vanderpool and together they raised two sons. Her work as a Nurse was a calling.  She worked in many medical facilities, most recently at the IHM.

Tanya was a very smart and strong-willed woman. She was gracious, kind and big-hearted. Her ability to talk to strangers, though sometimes embarrassing to her children, was a gift and a blessing to others. Her family was always her priority, and her time spent with her grandchildren meant everything to her.

In her spare time, she loved to play games with her grandchildren and spend time with them. You might find her watching UFC fights, boxing or wrestling, and she would probably have a little something sweet to snack on.  She also liked to play Bunco. Tanya will be truly missed by all that knew and loved her.

To cherish her memory, she leaves two sons: Shane (Rebecca) Blessing and Jesse (Raquel) Vanderpool; siblings: Rudy Miller, Kevin Miller, Shawn Greathouse, Kelly Miller and Megan Ray. Tanya also leaves four grandchildren: Drake and Tyler Vanderpool, Evan Blessing and Ethan Cole.

Tanya is preceded in death by her Parents, Henry Cook and Betty Miller and her husband, Jeffrey Vanderpool.

In accordance with the family's wishes, cremation has taken place. Friends and family are invited to a memorial gathering on Sunday, April 13, 2025 at the Swan Boat Club at 6332 Brancheau St, Newport, MI 48166, from 2:00 to 6:00 pm.
