Simica "Sis" Iocoangeli Obituary

Simica Iocoangeli

April 26, 1937 – August 20, 2021

Simica “Sis” Iocoangeli, age 84 of Monroe, passed away the evening of Friday, August 20, 2021 at the ProMedica Regional Hospital of Monroe.

Born April 26, 1937 in Monroe. She was one of nine children of the late Mike and Dorothy (Trifunow) Bosanac. Sis graduated from Monroe High School in 1955.

Sis met and married the love of her life: Reni Iocoangeli on August 10, 1963 at St. Josephs Church of Monroe. They raised a family of two sons and had spent 58 wonderful years together. Sis loved being a lifelong homemaker to her husband and children. She did work however, as a Dental Assistant for Dr. John Kuras office for about 10 years.

Sis was a very active parishioner in the church. She was first a member at St. Joseph Catholic Church of Monroe. She was their past President of their Christian Women and was one of the original founders of St. Joe's food closet. Sis was the chair person of many fundraisers and she was the former chair person of the church’s festivals, including volunteering much of her time to it. Even after making the move to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, she continued to volunteer and give her time to the church. Back in 1987, she received Holy Communion from the late Pope John Paul II, an experience that she always held dear to her heart.

Sis was a fantastic cook and baker. She was known for her special Serbian and Italian desserts. Sis was also known by many as the “cookie lady”. She liked to share her Serbian heritage and traditions with her family to carry on. Sis was also a huge Elvis Presley fan.

Sis was the matriarch of the family. She was a proud mom and grandmother, Baba, as her grandchildren affectionately called her. She took pride in her family, including her nieces and nephews who refer to her as “Tet Sima”. Sis always “told it like it was”. A lady who was straight to the point. One of her greatest joys was going up north to go deer hunting with her children and grandchildren. Family was Sis's life and she will be deeply missed and cherished in the hearts of her loved ones.

Beloved wife of Reni Iocoangeli. Loving mother of Ted Iocoangeli and Mike (Lesley) Iocoangeli, and Dana Iocoangeli, daughter-in-law. Dearest Baba of Melinda (Brian) Delaney, Alexander Iocoangeli, Antonio Iocoangeli, and Roman Iocoangeli. Dear sister of Michael (Pat) Bosanac and Rodney (Marge) Bosanac. She is also survived by a sister in law: Dorothy Bosanac.

In addition to her parents, Sis is preceded in death by siblings: George Bosanac, Pete (Opal) Bosanac, Nick Bosanac, Katherine Bosanac, Eileen Flynn, and Mary Graves; and an infant grandson: Dominic Alexander Iocoangeli.
