Shirley M. Messerschmidt, age 87, of Monroe, passed away peacefully on the morning of January 3, 2022, at Fountainview of Monroe.

Born May 27, 1934, at the King County Hospital in Seattle, Washington, Shirley was the daughter of the late Arba and Ruby (Erickson) Anderson. She graduated from San Jose High School and went on to raise her own family in San Jose, California. She had four children of her own, and she also raised two other children who she considered her own.

Shirley was a very special and loving mother. She made her family her top priority and loved to spend time with them. Shirley managed to form a special relationship and bond with each one of her grandchildren who she held so dear to her heart. She was very social and loved to talk to people. Those who met her loved her and she will be truly missed.

To cherish her memory, she leaves her children: Jerry (Amy) Messerschmidt, Mark (Lisa) Messerschmidt, Karen (Mike) Mucker and Julie Hemmingway, Lora Bacigalupi and Jerriann Bacigalupi. Shirley also leaves thirteen grand children: Jeffrey, Katherine, Kami, Colton, Lucas, Landon, Krista, Steven, Jerilyn, Lauren, Christopher, Kylee and Michael.

In accordance with her wishes, Shirley will be buried in California at a later date.
