Shirley A. Congioloso
September 10, 1936-August 10, 2023
Shirley Ann Congioloso, age 86 of Temperance, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family the evening of Thursday August 10, 2023.
Shirley was born September 10, 1936 in Newport, MI to the late Harvey B. and Frances R (Roberts) Reaume. She would go on to graduate from Jefferson High School and continue to spend all her life as a resident of Newport. Shirley married the love of her life, Joseph B. Congioloso, on November 12, 1955. Sadly, Joseph passed away on January 21, 2020.
Shirley worked at Liparoto’s Bakery, Gruber’s Market, and was a Teacher’s Aide for Jefferson Sodt Elementary School. She was also an election worker, assisting with Frenchtown Township during election time. In her spare time, Shirley enjoyed traveling, boating, sewing, quilting, baking, and reading. She was active in the Detroit Beach Boat Club of Monroe and served as their Ladies Auxiliary President. Shirley was also a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary. Loving the outdoors, Shirley was more than happy to assist with both of her daughters while they were Blue Birds. Above all else, Shirley loved spending time with family and friends.
To cherish her memory, Shirley leaves her two daughters: Pamela (Edgar Jr.) Turner and Laurie (Chris) Williams; four grandchildren: Joel (Nina) Williams, Andrew (Roxanne) Williams, Heidi (Keith) Blair, and Edgar Turner III; and five great grandchildren: Godrik, Natalie, Zachary, Claire, and Rowena.
Along with her parents and husband, Shirley is also preceded in death by her sister, Elaine Sweet, and brother, Irving Reaume.
Family and friends may visit from 3-7pm on Sunday August 20, 2023 at Rupp Funeral Home. Shirley will lie in-state at 10am on Monday August 21, 2023 at St. Charles Catholic Church, where a funeral Mass celebrating Shirley’s life will be held at 11am. Father Henry Rebello will officiate. Burial will immediately follow at St. Charles Cemetery, Newport.
