Shirlene Curry
August 5, 1938 – September 4, 2024
Shirlene Curry, age 86 of Monroe, peacefully went home to the Lord on Wednesday, September 4, 2024.
Shirlene was born on August 5, 1938, in the small town of Capito, Kentucky. She was one of six children of the late White and Edna (Massengill) Webb. The family moved to the Monroe area where Shirlene met and married Dennis Curry. They wed on July 2, 1955 and went on to have four children.
Shirlene was a wonderful mother and wife, caring for her children and home as well as running the family business, Dennis Curry Trucking, from their home, from 1960 to 2008.
The couple spent 64 wonderful years together. They loved to travel and have been all over the United States, including Hawaii. They traveled to Mexico and Europe numerous times and took their children on long summer trips around the country, often camping, building many memories. Dennis sadly passed away in 2019.
Shirlene was a devoted and faithful catholic. She was a long-time member of St. Mary Catholic Church for over 66 years and a faithful prayer warrior. Her grandchildren were her pride and greatest joy. She supported and loved each one, putting on wonderful holidays for them, tea parties, hours of swimming, and pumpkin-carving parties every fall in the woods behind her home. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Shirlene is survived by a brother, Dennis Webb and three children, Pam (John) Marsee of Boaz, Alabama, Cindy (Robert) Ramsey of Temperance, and Joe Curry of Monroe; 16 grandchildren, Chris (Emily) Adams, Jennifer (Kris) Eliott, Monica Marsee, Becky (Tim) Lockhart, Denny (Tiffany) Marsee, Michael Ramsey, Melissa (Mike) Cody, Jaime Ramsey, Calla Ramsey, Ryleigh (James Tate) Ramsey, Hannah Ramsey, Samuel Ramsey, Aaron Curry, Brian Curry, Sarah (Austin) Wickenheiser, and Kadie (Chris) McClure; 19 great grandchildren, Maxx, Alec, Maren, Leo, Francis, Lincoln, Jackson, Zoey, Mason, Addie, Asher, Garrett, Magnus, Liv, Archer, Amelia, Silas, Kayleigh, and Maya. Also survived by son in law: Dan Adams.
In addition to her parents, Shirlene was preceded in death by husband: Dennis Curry; daughter: Patti Adams; sister, Georgia Cramer; and brothers, Clyde, Don and Gary Webb.
Friends and family are invited to a visitation at Rupp Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 from 3 to 7 pm with Recitation of the Rosary at 6 pm. The funeral service will be on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at St. Mary Catholic Church. She will lie in state at 9:30 am, with mass to follow at 10:30 am.
