Sharon L. Haynes

December 20, 1942 – March 19, 2021

 

Sharon Lee Haynes, age 78 of Monroe, passed away at 7:24 pm Friday in her home surrounded by her loving family.  She is now at peace after a courageous nine-year battle with cancer.

 

Born on December 20, 1942 in Monroe, Sharon was the daughter of Arnold and Hazel (Crist) Amann. Sharon was a 1961 graduate of Monroe High School.

 

Sharon married Billy Haynes on April 20, 1963 at the Monroe Assembly of God Church. They raised a family of two daughters and spent over 57 wonderful years together. They enjoyed many outside activities along with playing Liverpool card game with their friends.

 

Sharon started playing piano when she was 12 years old. She played the piano and organ for children, youth, and congregational services. Sharon was a faithful member of Stewart Road Church of God. She taught Sunday School and was the Wednesday night secretary for 25 years. Bill and Sharon worked with the youth and chaperoned many youth choir trips.

 

Sharon enjoyed attending her grandchildrens’ sporting events, antiquing, home decorating projects, and hosting family holiday gatherings.  Sharon and her daughters went on a Christmas shopping trip for 27 consecutive years. They traveled to Birch Run, Columbus, Chicago, Philadelphia, and Mall of America.

 

Sharon is survived by her husband, Billy; two daughters: Debra (Roy) Ford and Dawn (Harold) Steward; three grandchildren: Jessica Ford, Brandon Ford, and Lennon Steward; and a sister, Emily (Charles) Ellison.

 

She is preceded in death by her parents; in-laws: Carl and Madeline Haynes; 2 sisters: Carol Smith and Eileen McCraw; and a brother, Robert Finn.

 

Everyone is invited to a visitation on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at Rupp Funeral Home from 3:00 to 8:00 pm. A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at Stewart Road Church of God in Monroe. Sharon will lie in-state at 10:00 am with a service starting at 11:00 am. Officiating is Pastor Keith Hawes. Burial will follow immediately to Roselawn Memorial Park.

 

Memorial donations in honor of Sharon may be made to Stewart Road Church of God Youth Department.
