Sharon Garrett Obituary

Sharon L. Garrett

December 22, 1948 – July 31, 2024

Sharon Louise Garrett, age 75 of Monroe, passed away the afternoon of Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at the ProMedica Regional Hospital of Toledo, with her loving family by her side.

Born December 22, 1948 in Monroe. She was the daughter of the late Alton and Theresa (DuCharme) Blanchett. Sharon graduated from Jefferson High School in 1968.

Sharon met and married the love of her life: John “Mike” Garrett on July 5, 1969 at St. Charles Catholic Church in Newport. Together they owned and operated Brest Bay Party Store for 25 years before retiring in 2014. They raised a family of two children and spent over 47 wonderful years together before Mike sadly passed away in 2016.

Sharon was a long-time member of both St. Anne’s and St. Charles Catholic Churches, going between both parishes. In her free time, she enjoyed shopping at ALDI Grocery Store and TJ Maxx, which were her favorites. She also liked to take walks at Sterling State Park. Most importantly, Sharon loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be remembered for always caring for others before herself. Sharon will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Beloved mother of John (Lisa) Garrett and Kimberly (Kevin) Stefko. Loving grandmother of Ryan Garrett, Avery Garrett, and Keegan Stefko. Dear sister of Richard (Bonnie) Blanchett of Grand Island, Florida, Barb Miller of Newport, Jim (Amy) Blanchett of Erie, and Tim Blanchett of Gaylord. Also survived by sister-in-law: Mary Blanchett and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Sharon was preceded in death by husband: Mike Garrett; sister: Carol Blanchett; and brother: Ron Blanchett.
