Sandra Lee Penrod, age 72 of Monroe, passed away on Sunday, December 27, 2020 at Beaumont Hospital in Taylor.

She was born on March 22, 1948 in Monroe to the late Hugh Nixon and Kathryn Krueger. She went on to marry the love of her life, Charles Penrod. They spent many loving years together before her passing.

Sandy was a strong willed woman who always wanted to be around her family. She adored her grandkids and especially her great-grandkids. Sandy absolutely loved each and every one of her friends and family.

Sandy's life mission was to make everyone around her happy. If you visited her, you would never leave empty handed. Sandy always made sure everyone had what they needed and wanted.

She will always be remembered for her spaghetti salad at family functions. Along with this, the family will always remember playing dice and card games all night while Sandy was blaring her music on her comically large speakers in her small apartment. She would always say "it's like we're having our own concert." Sandy loved when the family was all together.

The family will miss random shopping trips to Walmart, they all know Sandy kept Big Lots in business, last minute dinner dates, and movie nights. Every moment together was a hallmark memory captured and she loved her selfies with her friends and family.

To cherish her memory, Sandy leaves her loving husband, Charles Penrod; five children: Kathy (Tony) Metcalf, Trudy (Mike) Smith, Albert (Crystal) Metcalf, Cynthia (Marc) Ellis, and Agnes (Desmond) Northern; grandchildren: Robert, Jonathan, Charles, William, Jimmy, Diane, Michael, Darrell, Jamie Lee, James, Jessica, Devante, Deshawn, and Michael; many great-grandchildren; and siblings: Virgil Leach, Georgia Warren, and Brenda Rahel.

Along with her parents, Sandy is preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Paul Rice; and grandchild, Sarafina Northern.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Saturday, January 2, 2020 at Rupp Funeral Home from 1:00 to 7:00 pm. A funeral service will immediately follow at 7:00 pm. Officiating is Pastor John Schinkel.
