Sandra J. Palmer
March 25, 1940-April 19, 2021
Sandra Joanne Palmer, age 81 of Carleton, passed away unexpectedly the afternoon of Monday April 19, 2021 at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital.
Sandra was born March 25, 1940 in Oakville, MI to the late Charles and Loretta (Giraud) Liedel. She attended Monroe High School, graduating with her diploma in 1958. Sandra would go on to marry the love of her life, Joseph Palmer, on June 25, 1960 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Maybee, MI.
Sandra was a homemaker all her life, caring for her children and husband while tending to their home. In her later years, Sandra dabbled in real estate and waitressed at the former Red Horse Inn. She loved going to the casino and trying her luck on the slots. She also used to be an avid bowler. Perhaps one of the biggest things that will be missed about Sandra will be her love for cooking, well known for her weekly Sunday Breakfast and homecooked birthday and holiday dinners. She had a warm, giving heart and a great sense of humor. Above all else, Sandra loved to spend time with her family and friends, particularly her grandchildren.
To cherish her memory, Sandra leaves her loving husband of 60 years, Joseph; three sons: Joseph “Sayler” Palmer, Jeremy “Jake” (Tricia) Palmer, and William (Ann) Palmer; three daughters: Janine (Larry) Nowitzke, Loretta (Richard) Griffith, and Yvonne (Patrick) Baldock; two brothers: Timmy and Toby (Vicki) Liedel; fourteen grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
Along with her parents, Sandra is preceded in death by two brothers: David and Denny Liedel; and best friend/sister-in-law, Judy Liedel.
Family and friends may visit from 2-8pm at Rupp Funeral Home on Thursday April 22, 2021. Sandra will lie in-state at 10am on Friday April 23, 2021 at Divine Grace Parish-Carleton, where a funeral mass celebrating her life will be held at 11am. Fr. Michael Woroniewicz, Pastor of the church, will officiate. In accordance with Sandra’s wishes, cremation will follow.
Anyone wishing to make a memorial contribution in Sandra’s honor are asked to please consider St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
