Rosemary Duncan Obituary

Rosemary Duncan

July 6, 1932 – March 29, 2021

Rosemary Duncan, age 88, of Monroe, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 29, 2021, at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital.

Born July 6, 1932 in Tazewell, Tennessee, she was one of eight children born from the union of the late James and Neley (Brooks) Southern. Rosemary attended Claiborne County High School. In 1949, she married John Duncan. They moved to Monroe, Michigan, in 1950, where they would live and raise their family.

Rosemary worked as a licensed hairdresser out of her home for many years and worked in medical billing for Lee Eye Associates. She devoted most of her time to raising her children and taking care of her family's needs. Rosemary cared deeply for her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had great affection for her pets and all animals. Rosemary was known to be quite a cook and took great pride in family meals. In her spare time, she enjoyed bowling, traveling, and making her summer deck as beautiful as possible.

To cherish her memory, she leaves her husband of 72 years, “Jay”, a daughter, Linda Duncan Jaworski (Victor Lau) of Farmington Hills; two sons, Jim (Donna) Duncan of Fort Wayne, IN; and Michael Duncan of Monroe; five grandchildren; Jeffrey Jaworski, Jeremy (Dannielle) Jaworski, Jason Duncan, Josh Duncan and Jenna Duncan; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Rosemary is preceded in death by a daughter; Pamela A. Duncan in 1993; her parents; three brothers and four sisters; and four nieces and two nephews.
