Rose Marie Finley

Rose Marie Finley, age 91 of Monroe passed away peacefully with loving family by her side, on October 10, 2024, at Landings of Oregon Assisted Living.
Born December 20, 1932, in Monroe. Rose Marie was the daughter of the late Charles and Helen (Livernois) McGowan. She began work at General Mills shortly after her marriage and later earned her high school diploma through adult education.
Rose Marie met and married the love of her life: Jay Finley on June 17, 1950 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Monroe. Together they enjoyed traveling, playing pinochle, and being in Florida walking on the beach and looking for seashells. They raised a family of five children and spent over 60 wonderful years together before Jay passed away in 2011.
In her younger years, she played in a bowling league. Rose Marie was a long-time member of St. Michaels Catholic Church. She enjoyed going to the American Legion dances and learning square dancing. Rose Marie was an amazing cook, she loved getting the whole family together for gatherings and holidays. She made the best pies, especially her legendary apple pies. Rose Marie liked to go shopping in her spare time as well as crocheting Afghans for her loved ones. She will be remembered for her love for her family and love for children. Rose Marie will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Beloved mother of Ronald (Jan) Finley of Monroe, Judy (Henry) Johnson of LaSalle, Kathaleen (David) Bruce of Erie, and Margaret Beavers of Monroe. Loving grandmother of 17 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, and 11 great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Rose Marie was preceded in death by husband: Jay Finley; son: Robert Reed Finley, grandson: Jeremy Bruce; great-grandson: Ronnie Urbanczyk; siblings: Charles McGowan, Patricia Stone, and Margaret “Betty” Raymond; stepfather: Cornelius Grodi; and son-in-law: John Beavers.
Everyone is invited to a visitation on Monday, October 14, 2024, at Rupp Funeral Home from 4 to 8 pm. A second day of viewing will be on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at Rupp Funeral Home from 12 noon to 8 pm, with recitation of the rosary at 7 pm. A funeral service will be on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at St. Michael Catholic Church. Rose Marie will lie instate at 10 am with mass at 11 am. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
