Rose M. Kavanagh
May 15, 1928 – June 17, 2026
Rose Marie Kavanagh, age 98 of Monroe, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Born May 15, 1928, in Monroe. She was the daughter of the late Angelo and Merinda (Bastinelli) Notario. Rose graduated from Monroe High School in 1946.
Rose met the love of her life, Theodore, on a blind date. They got married on September 11, 1948, in St. Joseph Catholic Church. They celebrated 63 years together. Rose was a loving homemaker to her husband and their four children. After the kids were older, she went to work at the IHM Motherhouse and Bay Corrugated.
Rose was very devoted to her Catholic faith. She was a long-time member at St. Michael Catholic Church of Monroe. Rose was also a part of St. Mikes Altar Society.
In her free time, she liked to be outside working in her flower beds. Rose was an amazing cook and baker. She was known for her homemade spaghetti sauce that everyone enjoyed. Most importantly, she cherished her family, especially her grandchildren. Rose used to write each of her eight grandchildren letters each month. She loved when everyone got together for family dinners and socializing. Rose wanted to always be in the loop and know everything that was going on with her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Beloved mother of Thomas “TK” Kavanagh, Joseph (Doris) Kavanagh, Karon Liparoto, and Sharon French. Loving grandmother of Jeniece Ballerini, Jessica Liparoto, Joseph (Stephanie Giles) Liparoto, Jolyn Liparoto, Kyle Kavanagh, Kristopher (Tina) Kavanagh, Kristi (Chris) Lorentz, and Joseph (Catlyn Griner) Kavanagh.
In addition to her parents, Rose was preceded in death by husband, Theodore; and daughter-in-law, Gloria Kavanagh.
Family and friends are invited to a funeral mass at St. Michael Catholic Church on Saturday, June 20, 2026. Rose will lie instate at 10 am with mass at 11 am. Officiating is Fr. Michael Anagbogu.
The Kavanagh family would like to extend a special thank you to Elara Caring and her nurses, Alli and Lindsay, for all the excellent care she received.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Elara Caring Hospice.
