Robert “Bob” Alan Ney, age 71 of Temperance, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at Hospice of NW Ohio.
Born January 13, 1952 in Monroe. He was the son of the late Leonard and Mary Ann (Strimpel) Ney. Bob graduated from St. Mary Catholic Central High School in 1971.
Bob started working at Broadway Market as a bottle boy. He then worked at Amendt Milling Company for years before becoming a Set-up Man at Ford Motor Company at the Ypsilanti Plant. Bob also worked at Spring Harbor Warehouse in Ypsilanti while laid off at Ford for a year. He spent over 32 years at Ford before retiring in 2004.
Bob met and married the love of his life: Paula Thornton on August 18, 1972, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Monroe. They raised a family of four children and spent over 49 wonderful years together before Paula sadly passed away in 2021.
Bob was a member of Church of Christ. He loved cars, and even had an Oldsmobile Cutlass and a Chevrolet Impala at one time. In his free time, you could find Bob doing yard work, watching TV, and eating good food. He helped on the farm assisting with canning food. Bob also liked to work on projects like building toy boxes for his grandkids.
Bob will be remembered for his gift of gab and his outgoing personality, who loved to tell jokes. Most importantly, Bob liked to spend his quality time with friends and family, especially his grandchildren. He loved to give gifts. Bob will be deeply missed and cherished in the hearts of his loved ones.
Beloved father of Jennifer (Michael) Barth, Jamie (Kim) Ney, Joanie Ney, and Jeanette (Anthony) Hernandez. Loving grandfather of Ganessa, Victoria, Dylan, Bryce, Caleb, Gavin, Aiden, Jordan, Isabella, and Clark. Great grandfather of Kyler and Everett. Dear brother of Brian (Mary Jo) Ney.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by wife: Paula Ney; grandson: Tevin Ney-Wilkerson; and siblings: Sandra (Tom) Gerweck, James Ney, and David Ney.
Everyone is invited to a visitation on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at Rupp Funeral Home from 12 noon to 8 pm. The funeral service will begin at 7 pm on Saturday. Officiating is Pastor Andre King. In accordance with his wishes, cremation will conclude services and his ashes will be laid to rest at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in honor of Bob are suggested to Hospice of NW Ohio.
