Robert “Bob” J. Sucheck

Robert “Bob” J. Sucheck, age 79, of Monroe, passed away at 10:25 p.m. Monday, May 20, 2024, at Fountainview of Monroe. He had been in declining health for five years.
Born November 24, 1944, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Joseph and Matilda (Mical) Sucheck. Bob attended Bishop Carrol High School and Richland Township High School, graduating with the class of 1962. He served his country honorably in the United States Air Force from 1963 to 1967. After returning home, Bob moved to southeast Michigan in 1967, meeting his beloved bride the same year. He married Linda Ann Vanda on June 21, 1968, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Monroe. Bob worked for Ameritech & AT&T as a Network Specialist for thirty-five years, retiring in 2005. While working and raising a family, Bob attended Wayne County Community College and Henry Ford Community College. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 1266, attaining 3rd and 4th degrees; St. Mary Catholic Church; and a life member of V.F.W. Post 1138, Monroe. Bob earned his private pilot’s license and loved flying. He was a Cub Scout Leader for several years and coached CYO baseball. Bob enjoyed deer and turkey hunting, as well as fishing.
To cherish his memory, Bob leaves his loving wife of fifty-six years, Linda, of Monroe; three sons: Steven (Treasure) J. Sucheck of Maumee, Ohio, Jason (Tammi) M. Sucheck of Santa Clarita, California, and Matthew (Sarah) J. Sucheck of Temperance; one sister, Cynthia Nappo of Allen Park, Michigan; seven grandchildren: Jessica (Andrew Krocker) Sucheck, Samantha Sucheck, Robert Sucheck, Sunny Sucheck, Owen Sucheck, Riley Sucheck, and Joseph Sucheck; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 24, 2024, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Rupp Funeral Home, 2345 S. Custer Road, Monroe, MI 48161. He will lie in state at St. Mary Catholic Church, Monroe, at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 25, 2024. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated beginning at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle.
