Robert Gale Madden

Robert Madden, age 62, of Monroe, passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2024.

Born January 29, 1962 in Ypsilanti, he was the son of the late Robert and Dorothy (Morris) Madden. Robert was a 1980 graduate of Garden City High School and went on to marry Ilene Szacko on May 31, 1986. During their 38-year marriage, Robert and Ilene raised two sons, Robert and Ryan.

 In his younger years, Robert was accomplished in both construction and carpentry, but later earned his living as a Machine Repair Journeyman for Ford Motor Company at the Flat Rock Assembly where he made many friends. He retired after 30 years of service.

In his spare time, he enjoyed the freedom of riding his Harley. Being 3 years sober, the fellowship of his AA family meant the world to him. His passion for music seemed unmatched. He loved boating and the 31 year membership he shared with the Flat Rock Elks Lodge #1731. Robert was also the VP of the UAW Local 3000, and was very involved in the union. By far, however, his most cherished moments were those spent with his wife and sons.

Beloved husband of Ilene, and father of Robert A. and Ryan J Madden, nephew of Wilma Morris, Jenny McCarthy, and Maude Robinson. Robert also leaves behind many loving cousins. He will be truly missed by all that knew him.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Dorothy Madden, grandmother, Mary Madden, uncles, Bill Morris and Jerry LoPreste, an aunt, Inez Young, and cousins, Donny and Gary Morris.

Family and friends may visit on Thursday, October 3, 2024 at Rupp Funeral Home from 1 until 7 pm when a celebration of his life will take place at 7. Robert will be laid to rest on Friday, October 4, 2024 at St. Hedwig Cemetery in Dearborn Heights at 1:30 pm.
