Robert Michael Greening

October 8, 1948 – December 28, 2024

Robert M. Greening, age 76, of Monroe, passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by his family, on Saturday, December 28, 2024.

Born October 8, 1948, in Monroe, he was one of three children born from the union of Howard and Marion (Foor) Greening.  Robert graduated from Catholic Central High School with the class of 1966 and furthered his education attending Monroe County Community College. Robert served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corp. during the Vietnam war from 1967 until 1971.

On July 2, 1970, Robert married the love of his life, Ellen Nelson and together they raised two children. He and Ellen spent 54 wonderful years together.  He supported his family working for Ford Motor Company as a Tool and Die Maker for more than 35 years and served on the Ford Fire Brigade.

Bob was an honest and hard-working man. He had a great sense of humor and was very easy to love. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed.

Bob was a member of the VFW, post 1138, the Dundee Sportsman Club, the Monroe Pistol and Rifle Club and the National rifle Association. An avid outdoorsman, he loved to hunt. Bob loved to travel with his entire family. He and Ellen made it to all 50 states.

To cherish his memory, he leaves his loving wife Ellen, a daughter, Kellie (Joe) Gore, a sister, Tag DeCarlo and a daughter in law, Jennifer (Scott) Mitchey. He also leaves 11 grandchildren: Zach, Meghan, Brandon, Ryan, Connor, Cory, Bryce and Blake Gore, Caitlyn (Ryan) Ohneck, Caleb Greening and Logan Mitchey.

He is preceded in death by a son, Cory Greening, a grandson, Nicholas Greening and a sister, Mary Greening.

Family and friends are welcome to visit from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday, January 3, 2025, at Rupp Funeral Home.  A funeral service will take place the following day on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at 11:00 AM, also at Rupp Funeral Home.
