April 28, 1960 – March 4, 2025

Rita Marcella Hawkins, age 64, passed away peacefully with family by her side at her home in Monroe on Tuesday March 4, 2025, after a long battle with kidney failure. She was on dialysis for over three years which caused some other medical conditions.

Rita was born on April 28, 1960, in Detroit, Michigan, to Letcher and Rosella Collett. She had two children, Thomas and Patricia Collett, and was the 9th child of 12. Rita was a homemaker to her children and step children, After the children were grown she started a home cleaning business. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and would go to every sporting event they were in. She also loved her music and loved to dance.

She is preceded in death by her mother and father, 4 brothers Glen: Gary, Greg, Dariel, and 3 sisters: Patricia, Mona, and Deborah.

She is survived by her husband and best friend, Max Hawkins; children, Thomas (Michelle) Collett of Monroe, and Patricia (Reginald) Hill of Baltimore MD; grandchildren: Savannah (Joshua) Piotrowski, Alexis Fite, Macy Collett, Avery Collett, Tanner Collett, and great-grandchildren: Marcella, Adalea, and Octavia. Along with two sisters. Lana Griffith and Ida (Charles) Branoff and two brothers. Dale (lanae) Collett and Audi (Renee) Collett.

In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Life will be at a later date in June 2025.
