Richard A. Apperson

November 19, 1970 – March 12, 2023

 

Richard “Rich” Avan Apperson, age 52, of Carleton, passed away on Sunday, March 12, 2023 at home.

 

Rich was born on November 19, 1970 on the US Army Base, Fort Benning, in Georgia. He was one of three children born to the late Larry and Fran Apperson. Rich was a 1988 graduate of Jefferson High School. While in school, Rich was in the Boy Scouts and eventually earned Eagle Scout rank in 1988. He then became a Boy Scout leader and coached many sporting events.

 

In his free time, Rich loved going to the casino. He was known for being good at gambling. Rich was a die-hard fan of the Dallas Cowboys. He also enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers as well as other various football games, baseball games, NWO, and WWE.

 

When he wasn’t busy with his hobbies, Rich could usually be found working at Subway. Everyone enjoyed seeing him there and even named him “The Subway Guy.”

 

Rich is survived by lifelong best friends, Duane and Cindy (Bell) Lucio of Carleton, and Terri Podsaid of Taylor; brother, Bill (Mylisa) Apperson of Lexington, South Carolina; sister, Ruth (Steve) McKinney of South Rockwood, Michigan; nieces and nephews: Stevie, Jason (Autumn), Jon (Caitlyn), Jenna (Branson), Billy (Savvy) Apperson, and Megan (Michael) Oswald; and great nieces and nephews: Liam, Levi, Liam, Tillman, and Skylar. Rich was also “Uncle Rich” to many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

 

In accordance with Rich’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
