Phyllis A. Simon
February 1, 1932 – September 20, 2024
Phyllis Ann Osgood was born February 1, 1932, in Monroe. She was the oldest of eight children born to the late Herbert J. and Frances M. (Kronsperger) Osgood. Phyllis was baptized, made her first communion, and confirmed at St. Michael Catholic Church and attended St. Michael School. She was a 1950 graduate of Monroe High School. Phyllis worked for F.W. Woolsworth (Downtown), Michigan Bell Telephone (A.T.T.) and Detroit Auto Insurance (AAA).
On August 6, 1956, she married Cletus A. Simon in Angola, Indiana. They had their marriage blessed by Fr. John J. Vanada at St. Joseph Catholic Church on November 3, 1956. From their union three sons and one daughter were born. Cletus died August 1, 2001. She enjoyed crossword and jigsaw puzzles, reading, and mall walking, but most of all, Phyllis loved being with her family. She enjoyed watching her children, grandchildren, and two great-granddaughters play sports.
Phyllis is survived by two sons, Joseph A. of Carleton and Christopher A. (Sherrie) of Dundee; one daughter, Cynthia A. (Brian) Quello of Temperance; one step-daughter, Joy ( Charles) Langton of Newport; two brothers, John (Jack) Osgood and Chares (Kay) Osgood, both of Monroe; twelve grandchildren; one step-grandson; fourteen great-grandchildren, with one on the way; two step-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Paul Alan Simon; four sisters: Mary “Eydie” Dushane, Barbara Sonoras, Patricia Ferguson, and Ethel Fanning; one brother, Russell Osgood; and four brothers-in-law: Robert Ferguson, Richard Fanning, Robert Dushane, and Patrick Sonoras.
Friends and family may visit from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, September 26, 2024, at Rupp Funeral Home, 2345 S. Custer Road, Monroe, MI 48161, where the Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. She will lie in state at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Friday, September 27, 2024. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. by the church Pastor, Rev. Fr. Kishore Battu. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle.
