Paula Jean Ney, age 71 of Temperance, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2021, at Ebeid Hospice in Sylvania, Ohio surrounded by her loving family.

Paula was born on June 2, 1950, in Monroe. She was one of four children born to the late Wesley and Ida (DiCarlo) Thornton. Paula graduated from Monroe High School in 1969. On August 18, 1972, Paula married the love of her life, Robert Ney, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Monroe. They raised a family of four children and spent over 48 wonderful years together.

Paula dedicated many years to housekeeping. One of the places Paula worked for was Mercy Memorial Hospital. Paula started working in housekeeping at the hospital in June of 1991. She worked there for 11 years. Paula also worked at Delta Seating Inc. in Monroe as well as Kmart. Paula had a love for thrift shopping, so she was proud to volunteer her time at The Thrift Shop here in Monroe. She was employed there for over 10 years.

In her free time, Paula enjoyed hosting home interior parties such as Pampered Chef and Scentsy. She would also sell Avon products with her daughter, Jennifer. Paula was known for her love of clothes, shoes, and jewelry. She also enjoyed scrap booking, planting flowers, canning jam and vegetables, and music. She would watch American Idol and Americas Got Talent with her husband, Robert. A notable hobby that Paula had was her extraordinary cooking and baking. She made the best spaghetti and meatballs, pies, and cookies. Paula was always doing something; she didn't know what relaxing was. This was also shown through her need to have a clean house. She was always vacuuming with her Kirby and ironing.

To cherish her memory, Paula leaves her loving husband, Robert Ney; four children: Jennifer (Michael) Barth, Jamie (Kim) Ney, Jeanette (Anthony) Hernandez, and Joanie Ney; nine grandchildren: Ganessa Ney, Dylan Barth, Victoria Barth, Caleb Ney, Gavin Ney, Aiden Ney, Bryce Ritenour, Isabella Hernandez, and Clark Hernandez; great grandchildren: Kyler Ney and baby Everett Lavell Ferguson who is on the way; and siblings: Mary Lou Dalton and Pat Kohn.

Along with her parents, Paula is preceded in death by her grandson, Tevin Ney-Wilkerson, and brother, Jim Thornton.

Everyone is invited to a visitation on Monday, July 5, 2021, at Rupp Funeral Home from 12:00 to 6:00 pm. A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at Rupp funeral Home starting at 11:00 am. Officiating is Andre King. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Paula's honor to The Thrift Shop in Monroe.
