Patrick William Merman, age 70 of Monroe, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 12, 2025, at Fountainview of Monroe Nursing Home under hospice care.

Born November 11, 1954 in Monroe. Pat was the son of the late LE “Brooks” and Patricia Ann (Keating) Merman. Pat graduated from Monroe Catholic Central High School. He received a Bachelors Degree from the University of Notre Dame, an MBA from Michigan’s Ross School of Business, and a second Master’s Degree from the University of Chicago.

Pat worked for the Continental Secret Service Bureau as a security guard for many years. He had to stop working when he became ill in March of 2025. Pat was a longtime member of St. Michael Catholic Church, as well as a Norte Dame Alumni and the National Audubon Society.

In his free time, Pat enjoyed keeping up with current events. He enjoyed reading books, watching movies, writing, and poetry. Most importantly cherished his quality time with family and always had a strong faith in God. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. 

Beloved brother of Paul (Chris) Merman, Timothy (Diane) Merman, and Marie (Jim) Lyon. Loving uncle of Katie (Brandon) Flynn, Isaac Merman, Matthew (Lauren) Lyon, Jacob Lyon, Julianne Lyon, and Blake Merman. Also survived by many great nieces and nephews.

Patrick was preceded in death by his parents: LE “Brooks” and Patricia Merman.

Family and friends are invited to a Funeral Mass on Friday, May 16, 2025, at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church. Pat will lie instate at 10 am with Mass starting at 11 am. Officiating is Fr. Kishore Babu Battu. Burial will follow to Roselawn Memorial Park, at 1:45 pm to meet for prayers.

Memorial donations in honor of Patrick are suggested to St. Michael Scholarship Fund (502 W. Front St, Monroe, MI, 48161), St. Mary Catholic Central Fund (108 W. Elm, Monroe, MI, 48162), or to the IHM Sisters Fund (610 W. Elm, Monroe, MI, 48162).
