Patricia Neboyskey Obituary

Patricia Ann Neboyskey

June 26, 1934 - October 1, 2024

Patricia Ann (nee Lazette) Neboyskey, age 90, fell peacefully into eternal sleep while surrounded by her loving children at her home in Monroe, Michigan, on October 1, 2024.

Born on June 26, 1934, in Monroe to the late Bernard and late Andrewina (nee Biggins) Lazette, Pat was the eldest daughter and the fourth of eight children. Her family attended St. Joseph Catholic Church for their faith and traditional school educations. A shyly reserved yet bright and diligent student, Pat received a prestigious, full-ride merit scholarship to attend St. Mary Academy for high school; however, she ultimately only attended St. Mary for one year before leaving school at age 16 to marry the handsome and charismatic “boy next door”, the late William (“Bill”) Neboyskey.

Bill and Pat married at St. Joseph on September 30, 1950. Just over a year later, they welcomed their first child and eventually settled into a bungalow on Maple Boulevard. Pat cherished her role as a doting wife and mother; nothing brought her more pride and joy than her family. Over the years, she and Bill, who worked at Consolidated Paper Mill, built a happy home that bustled with seven thriving children, hosted a menagerie of beloved pets, took numerous memorable family vacations, practiced their devout Catholic faith, and fostered close relationships with their large extended family.

Pat was not only a passionately dedicated wife, mother, sister, friend and Catholic – she was a very humble but creative genius. Well-known across Monroe for her extraordinary sewing skills, Pat built an enthusiastic seamstress clientele that she faithfully served for decades. She often had several doll-making, knitting, crocheting or sewing projects all going on at once, evidenced by fabric scraps or “radiation” scattered across the house. Pat also authored and published a children’s book, “Pumpkinsaurus,” inspired and accompanied by a handmade, eponymous plush dinosaur. Pat often partnered her artistic eye with her thoughtful heart and graced friends and family with gifts of exquisite handiwork – pieces of art to hand down through generations to come.

After her own children grew and left home, Pat worked as a teacher’s aide at Hollywood School, sharing her nurturing spirit with preschoolers for 20 years. Pat also taught catechism at St. Joseph, where she and Bill were life-long parishioners. After they retired, Bill and Pat loved spending time with their growing family and traveled often, including a cross-country train trip to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. When Bill passed away in 2002, their loving devotion to one another had endured for more than 51 years.

Pat became an active parishioner at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church after St. Joseph closed in 2014. She also proudly advocated for and served on the Board of Monroe County Right to Life. Pat enjoyed the thoughtful discourse and warm companionship of her weekly non-denominational Christian Bible study, and eagerly anticipated the second Sunday of every month when she visited with her siblings – a time-honored tradition fiercely maintained for more than 25 years.

As her health declined, Pat was blessed by excellent care received by the IHM Sisters on several occasions, and more recently, through Hospice of Northwest Ohio. After suffering a stroke in 2023, Pat moved in with her daughter, Alice, who together with her siblings, cared for Pat through her final days with utmost dignity, respect and love.

For 90 wonderful years, Pat deftly wove her beautiful spirit like a vibrant thread through the tapestry of life – a remarkable tapestry that will be forever honored, revered and treasured by her life’s crowning masterpiece: her beloved family.

Pat was preceded in death by her dear parents, Bernard and Andrewina; her adored siblings Alvin, Donald (“Duck”), Milton, Roger, and Rolland; her treasured husband, Bill; her precious stillborn children, Mary Alice and David James; and her cherished great-grandson, Ari Clarke.

Pat is lovingly remembered by many survivors: her children, Diane (Dave) Humbarger, Alice Moore, David (Angela) Neboyskey, Robert (Mary) Neboyskey, Timothy Neboyskey, William John Neboyskey, and Suzanne (Bill) Parsell; her grandchildren, Mikki (Derek) Faunce, Travis Floyd, Jermaine Hinton, Alexandra Neboyskey, Christopher (Wendy) Neboyskey, Evan Neboyskey, John Neboyskey, Stefan (Jessica) Neboyskey, Tyler Neboyskey, and Kelly Underwood; her great-grandchildren, Madison Andra, Zoe Clarke, Braden Faunce, Briella Faunce, Brooklynn Moore, Chloe Hinton, Alexandria Neboyskey, Christopher J. Neboyskey, and Lillian Neboyskey; her great-great-granddaughter, Amelia Clarke; her siblings, Gary (Donna) Lazette and Mary Anne (Darrell) Powell; and many nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins and friends.
