Patricia Kane Obituary

Patricia A. Kane (nee Haddix)

September 14, 1934 – September 26, 2025

Patricia Ann Kane, age 91 of Tecumseh, passed away peacefully, the morning of Friday, September 26, 2025, at home surrounded by family.

Pat was born on September 14, 1934 in Cold Lake, Alberta, Canada. She was the oldest daughter of nine children from the union of the late Vivan Fay and Beatrice (Host) Haddix. Her family immigrated to the United States, moving to Oregon before finally settling in Monroe, MI.

Pat graduated from St. Mary Academy in 1952 and was married that following September 27TH to her beloved husband of 59 years, Victor J. Kane. They raised a family of seven children. Sadly, Vic passed away in 2011.

In 1977, Vic’s job took them to Pittsburgh, PA where they laid roots and their three youngest children graduated high school. During that time, Pat began working for the Hallmark Company. In 1985, she was given an opportunity to franchise, allowing her to move back to Michigan and enjoy being a grandparent. Pat’s Hallmark, the first Gold Crown store in the state of Ohio, was owned and operated by Pat and Vic until 1996.

Pat was a long-time member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church of Tecumseh, where she remained very active. She always felt called to serve others. She spent many years coaching basketball and softball for the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) teams. Pat gave generously to charities that directly supported impoverished communities. She truly lived out the beatitudes.

Pat loved traveling, antiquing, and Disney. Her greatest joy was bringing the family together over a good meal. She was truly at her happiest when the house and those inside of it were full. Pat was adored in life by all those she knew and will be greatly missed.

To cherish her memory, Pat leaves her children; Diane Gruber, Sue, Bob (Sharon), Mike (Marsha), Linda (Bill) Wallborn, Jim (Donna), and Paul (Anne); 19 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Pat was preceded in death by husband: Vic; granddaughter: Melissa Weems, great granddaughters: Samantha Weems and Lem Domka; brothers: Jack, Bill, and Keith Haddix; sister: Shirley Frey; and son-in-law: Bill Gruber.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at Rupp Funeral Home from 1 to 8 pm, with recitation of the rosary at 6 pm. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, October 3, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church of Tecumseh. Pat will lie in state at 10 am with mass starting at 12 noon. Fr. Daniel Wheeler will officiate.
