Pansey Lucille Blakesley

May 26, 1937 – May 13, 2021

 

Pansey Lucille Blakesley, age 83 of Stearns, Kentucky, passed away the morning of May 13, 2021.

 

Born May 26, 1937 in Harlan, Kentucky. Pansey was the daughter of the late Rev. Robert and Mary (Hammac) Fultz. She worked as a laborer in small factories. Pansey moved to Monroe in 1951. On July 24, 1959, Pansey married Ben Charles Blakesley. They raised a family of three children and spent over 40 years together. Along with raising her own children, Pansey was a proud foster mom to 36 children over 10 years. Pansey went on to achieve one of her greatest accomplishments receiving her high school diploma from Marion Public Schools in 1995.

 

Pansey was a former member of the True Gospel Missionary Baptist Church in Monroe and a Charter member of Petersburg Baptist Church. After moving back to Kentucky, Pansey became a member of New Hope Baptist Church.

 

Pansey was a member of the Monroe County Rod and Gun Club. She was proud to have a pilot’s license. In her free time, Pansey was an avid crafter, she enjoyed coloring and playing games on her tablet. Most importantly, Pansey loved spending time with her family.

 

To cherish her memory, Pansey leaves two children: Raymond A. Blakesley of Erie, MI and Jenny L. Newsome of Newport, MI; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; four brothers: Rev. Earnest (Norma) Fultz, Robert (Lois) Fultz, Rev. John W. (Rita) Fultz, and Rev. Daniel K. (Penny) Fultz; and 4 sisters: Florence E. West, Edith B. Cunningham, Mary R. Wethington, and Anita K. Wexell.

 

Along with her parents, Pansey is preceded in death by her son, William Blakesley; brother, Luther Fultz; son-in-law, Dallas Newsome; daughter-in-law, Renay Blakesley; and brothers-in-law, Dewey Cunningham, Everett West, Tom Wethington, and John Wexell.

 

Everyone is invited to a visitation on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at Rupp Funeral Home from 2:00 to 7:00 pm. A funeral service will take place on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at Rupp Funeral Home starting at 1:00 pm. Officiating will be her brothers, Rev. Daniel, Rev. John, and Rev. Ernest Fultz. Burial will follow immediately to Pleasant View Cemetery in Petersburg, MI.
