Oma Elizabeth Yeary

Oma Elizabeth Yeary, beloved matriarch of her family, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2025, at the Gardens of Carleton in Carleton, Michigan. She was 97 years old.
Born on November 9, 1927, Oma lived a life characterized by devotion to her family, faith, and community. A graduate of St. Charles High School in St. Charles, Virginia, she carried the values of her upbringing throughout her life.
In August of 1947, Oma married the love of her life, Jack Yeary. Sadly, Oma was preceded in death by her husband, Jack in 1987; her parents, William and Eddie “Ettia” (Woods) England; her brother, J.C. England; and her sister, Rita "Juanita" Dye.
Her professional career was marked by her role as a leasing agent for Norman Towers, where she worked diligently for 15 years. Additionally, Oma contributed her talents to the Golden Heritage Flower Shop and served part-time in the office at Stewart Road Church of God. Her dedication and work ethic were appreciated by colleagues and friends alike.
Oma's interests were as diverse as they were meaningful. She had a passion for shopping, traveling, and cruising, which allowed her to see much of the world. An avid reader, she favored books on history and the Bible. Above all, she cherished time spent with her family, whom she loved deeply.
For 67 years, Oma was a devoted member of the Stewart Road Church of God, where her faith guided her life and her interactions with others. She was also a valued member of the Former Norman Towers Office Workers group for more than 30 years, considering them family, especially during their cherished trips to Torch Lake.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Sharon (Robert) Knox of Monroe; her brother, Floyd England of Monroe; her grandsons, Seth (Allison Enger) Knox of Adrian, Michigan, and Shawn (Upeksha) Knox of Valley Village, California; and her treasured great-grandson, Leif Iver Sebastian Knox. She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and unwavering faith.
Visitation will be held from 3-8 p.m. on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at Rupp Funeral Home, 2345 S. Custer Road, Monroe, MI 48161. A service celebrating Oma's life will take place at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 25, 2025, also at Rupp Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery, Monroe.
In honor of Oma’s memory, memorial contributions are suggested to the Stewart Road Church of God. Her spirit, generosity, and kindness will be deeply missed but never forgotten by all who knew her.
